The Clear Sky Report Page

This is a project of Larry oyster our club President. it serves to attempt to record the number of good observing days that we have over the course of a year. Here is the report for 2002 the first year for which a full year of data is available.

So this year we had clear sky on average 41% of the time. Our best months were August and September.

March 2003 update:

March roared in with 11 clear nights and 48 cloudy nights. Surely,
this would be a better month. And it was. New moon was on the 2nd,
and it was clear on the 3rd. It was also clear for the Messier
marathon on Friday, the 7th and for the OVAS meeting on the 8th. And
just for an exclamation, Sunday the 9th was also clear. Saturday the
15th and Friday the 28th were the other clear weekend nights. There
was a top 10 night during March, on Wednesday, the 26th. So the
totals are: 13 clear nights, 18 cloudy nights. 42% clear nights.
That brings the yearly total to 24 clear and 66 cloudy for a whopping
27% clear skies.
I had 8 observing sessions during this month, three of them were
solar sessions with a total time 15.5 hours during March.
