Wow, we have a very nice comet in the sky. Went out with the Fuji 7x50 at dusk and started scanning the area below Mars. Twilight was still pretty bright, but I thought I saw a distinct glow different from surrounding field stars. This looked good, so I went in to get the bino mount. As the sky darkened, the show got better. Yes, this was definitely the comet. I could not believe how easy it was to find and how bright it was. I was now picking up the distinct tail. With averted vision, the tail extended at least 1/5 of the distance in my Fuji's. I am having a rough time with the field star identification, but the magnitude estimate in The Sky is listing 4.66 and that seems very close to what I was observing. A very nice comet. I hope to get a chance to shoot it with film!
