I just love my TV85! I packed it along for my weeklong trip to San
Diego. I carry on the scope in a canvas bag and pack the telepod
tripod. I took two eyepieces, a 14mm and a 5mm Radian. I viewed on
Thursday night for about one hour. I placed the scope between our hotel
and the tent we used for large group gatherings. The area was on the
water's edge with nice sailboats and Yachts. Sales associates would be
walking from the hotel to this tent for dinner and evening
entertainment. I probably had about 15 folks stop by and check out the
weird dude with the telescope. The hotel was right on the bay in San
Diego. If you have not been there, it is one of the nicest cities in
the US.
Tagging on to the "giddy" thread; the responses by folks were precious.
Standard replies on Saturn "that is painted on their right?" and "I
can't believe how clear it looks." Jupiter and the four Gallilean moons
were putting on a great show. I never really had a chance to check for
the GRS, but I do not believe it was in view.
The skies were very steady, at least for 120X, my max for this trip.
Temps were around 55 deg.
So, the reach of OVAS is now officially from coast to coast. We now
have 15 more individuals with the "giddy gas giant feeling."
